Our Company History

From a qualified electrician to a highly skilled alarm technician, Alan and Ann Marjerrison were inspired to form MP Automatic Alarm Systems in 1976, in 2003 we became a limited company and the name was changed to MP Alarms (Fire & Security) Ltd, as we are known today.

Alan & Ann Marjerrison first operated from their home in Thornton but the quick growth of the business soon forced a move to the current office premises in Baildon providing Intruder alarms, Fire Alarms, Access Control systems and CCTV.

In 1987 MP Alarms were accepted as members of N.S.C.I.A the national supervisory council for intruder alarm systems this was a great achievement for the company. In 1991 N.S.C.I.A. changed to being NACOSS as we know it today.

As well as supplying and installing alarm systems we had a shop on site which sold DIY equipment direct to the public, to differentiate between our professionally installed systems and the DIY systems the DIY equipment was sold with the name ‘Shipley Security Centre’. This side of the business ran for approximately 14 years until a decision was made to close the shop due to the continuing growth on the installation side of the company.

MP Alarms, was awarded the BS5750 quality standard and later BS ENISO 9002 quality standard, this is a standard that is continually inspected to ensure we continually provide a high standard of work in the office and on site.

In 2001 NSI produced levels of standards, Silver and Gold, our accreditation became NACOSS GOLD the highest standard in the industry.

Due to the many changes in fire safety, the way fire alarm systems were to be designed and fitted companies were having to have a responsible accredited

fire alarm company service their alarm on a regular basis we therefore worked towards and Achieved, NSI GOLD for Fire Installation, Maintenance, Design and Commissioning, and BAFE accreditation in 2007, among the first companies in Yorkshire to achieve such a standard.

Health and Safety plays a huge part in our day to day working and we have worked towards and gained in 2013 the SMAS Worksafe Contractor in association with SSIP for Health and Safety recognition.

This brings us up to today where we endeavour maintain the quality and standards we have achieved.

Where are we now

The company has been growing since its conception in 1976 and we are continuing to grow today despite recent economic challenges. Growing from a team of 2 we are now a team of 15 who work together to give our customers the best welcome, customer service and product available on the market today. Our customers safety is paramount to us which is why we keep in touch to ensure your product is continually to the latest standards through our maintenance agreements.
